Tour Day One - Meiji Jingu

After we were finished at Senso-Ji we caught the subway to the West side of Tokyo to visit Meiji Jingu shrine.

The walk to the shrine was surrounded by beautiful woodland and was decorated with a large display of sake barrels.

Once we arrived we each purchased some blessed charms and a wooden wish sign. On the sign we wrote our well wishes for family and friends, then hung them on the wall to be burnt during prayers tomorrow morning.
It is said that as these are burnt the wishes of the writers will be well received by the deities.

We then paid our respects by bowing twice, clapping twice and then bowing again at the main shrine building.

We had a short stop at Harajuku on the way to the train station - we will be coming back here later.
